Mitchell Martin employees are proud and inspired by our CEO Gene Holtzman, who began his career in social work and still carries the spark of philanthropy today. As a staffing firm, the work we do focuses on helping people and businesses grow and achieve success. While we all agree that helping people is the best job in the world, it’s especially rewarding when we can help our non-profit partners in the process.
This was the case recently, when we were tasked by a major New York hospital to provide staffing support on a large help desk implementation project. Members of our Healthcare IT team; Chris Pukit, SVP of Strategic accounts, and Mark Sandy, Senior IT Recruiter immediately began strategizing to satisfy the requirements of this assignment for our valued client. The team quickly identified a perfect solution; to work with two of MMI’s non-profit partners, both of which focus on helping people in our local community with careers in information technology.
The two non-profits were NPower and Per Scholas, both of which are actively supported by Mitchell Martin and perfect resources to quickly identify eager talent with the right skills to assist our client with their implementation.
NPower
For over 6 years, we’ve partnered with NPower, a nonprofit that creates a pathway for military veterans and young adults from underserved communities to succeed in careers in Information Technology. Upon graduation of their programs, Lauren Rimler, Director of Research and Corporate Recruitment, works with the students on interview preparation and resume building to prepare them for their future careers. Lauren had this to say about her experience. “Since connecting with NPower, I have had the privilege of building relationships with the students helping them with their next step out of the program. Conducting presentations, heading up workshops, and attending their graduations at the end, has been an incredible experience that I hope to continue in the future.”
Per Scholas
Per Scholas is a national nonprofit that drives positive and proven social change in communities across the country. Through rigorous tuition-free technology training, and professional development, they prepare motivated adults who are unemployed or underemployed for successful careers as IT professionals. As an Advisor, Youth Advocate and Career Readiness Trainer Mark Sandy says “I have placed over 300 students from Per Schools and changed the lives of many. It’s something I am very proud of!”
Through our deep relationships with both organizations, Mark was able to successfully interview and deploy over 35 people under a tight two-week deadline. The Project was an absolute success and the client had high praise for all the students, some of which will be offered extensions.
We recognize the important role that these organizations play in our community and are proud to work with them to help support their mission. We are equally proud of our staff who not only possess the resources and expertise, but who genuinely care about helping people in our community through philanthropic efforts. We are humbled to be a part of that success and will continue to help these and other groups to provide career support to those who need it most.
